Our Story
Joshua Church was born from one unshakable truth — God's story isn't over, and He is calling a people to rise, lead with purpose, and set the world ablaze with truth. In the Scriptures, Joshua didn't look back, but fixed his eyes on what God had promised and led His people into it. That same spirit defines who we are becoming — a people moving forward, refusing to look back, stepping boldly into what God has promised.
Before our doors ever open, our hearts already have. We are now gathering weekly for Bible Study and Prayer, serving our neighbors, and building relationships that last — not waiting for a launch date to start living the mission God placed in us.
That mission is simple but not small: to lead with purpose, enlighten with truth, and serve with compassion — raising disciples who carry this spirit into their homes, workplaces, and city. This is our story. And if you've been waiting for a place to belong and grow, we believe you're meant to be part of it.
Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.
Our Mission
We are called to pursue God with every part of who we are — our hearts, minds, souls, and strength. Everything we do flows from a deep, authentic relationship with Him.
We believe every person carries God-given dignity and worth. Our community is a place where people from every background are welcomed, known, and loved — no exceptions.
The Great Commission isn't optional — it's our mandate. We exist to make disciples of all nations, equipping believers to go and bear fruit wherever God plants them.
Scripture is our foundation and our compass. Through weekly Bible Study and a culture of daily devotion, we commit to letting the Word of God shape how we think, speak, and act.
Prayer is not a formality — it is how we breathe. Our weekly Prayer Line is a testimony to our belief that God moves when His people seek Him together with faith and expectation.
No one walks this journey alone — we do life together. We are a family, a community, a body — each member vital to the whole. Together, we grow, serve, and carry the light of Christ into the world.
Our Pastor
Pastor Avery Brown is a Columbia, SC native whose life has been shaped by a deep love for God's Word and a lifelong pursuit of faith. A born-again, Spirit-filled believer who loves worshipping and praising God, Pastor Brown lives with a heart fully surrendered to Christ in everything he does. A graduate of the University of South Carolina with a degree in Applied Mathematics and Statistics, he approaches the study and teaching of Scripture with both analytical precision and spiritual depth.
With over 25 years of licensed and ordained ministry experience — including a seasoned background as a Minister of Music — Pastor Brown's journey has been one of faithful service across many expressions of the local church. As a gifted mentor, he has poured into countless individuals — many of whom have gone on to become pastors, evangelists, teachers, and other leaders in churches of their own. That breadth of experience is what God is now channeling into something new: Joshua Church.
Passionate about leading people into a life of purpose, Pastor Brown is a serious student of the Bible and a defender of the faith — committed to teaching the whole counsel of God with clarity and conviction. Outside the pulpit, Pastor Brown enjoys good music, staying fit, and a great movie now and then.
Joshua Church is the fulfillment of a calling decades in the making.
